La mia prima fondazione a 18 anni: un sogno che diventa realtà

Sembra una follia, non è vero?

Potreste pensare che sia una responsabilità enorme per una diciottenne, e sì, potreste avere ragione.... ma lasciate che vi racconti come è iniziato tutto.

Fin da quando avevo 7 anni, sognavo di creare una fondazione che aiutasse le donne maltrattate e le famiglie sfollate a causa della violenza. Immaginavo una casa piena di rispetto, amore e sostegno per cambiare la situazione e trasformarle nel loro io migliore. Lei sognava un luogo magico con stanze dignitose, buon cibo, consulenza e lavori per promuovere la sua indipendenza. Ma... sapete quanti anni avevo dato a questo sogno? L'avevo segnato come un sogno realizzato a 36 o più anni.

Potete immaginare la mia grande sorpresa quando mi sono trovata di fronte alla legalizzazione della mia fondazione non appena sono diventata maggiorenne.

L'inizio di un sogno

Tutto ha iniziato a prendere forma quando ho capito la causa dell'ansia, della paura e della sfiducia che le famiglie sfollate dalla violenza avevano nei confronti della tecnologia. Ero molto curioso di capire perché resistessero a quello che chiamiamo "progresso" e così ho iniziato a impegnarmi con le comunità, a capirle, a creare spazi di dialogo e di gioco in cui poter agire. In questo modo, ho raccolto le informazioni necessarie per capire cosa succedeva nelle loro menti e quali azioni avevano innescato questa resistenza.

Nel corso del processo, ho scoperto qualcosa di sconvolgente: I bambini non volevano giocare, né immaginare nulla. La violenza e la dura realtà della guerra li avevano privati di queste preziose abilità che diamo per scontate nei bambini. Erano entrati in contatto con oggetti di guerra e temevano che anche i robot fossero strumenti di malefatte.

Quando sono arrivati in comunità, i bambini litigavano, non avevano rispetto l'uno dell'altro, non volevano partecipare alle attività, rimproveravano molto, erano così irrequieti... non ascoltavano e, paradossalmente, erano imbarazzati a presentarsi, non sapevano dire come si chiamavano o cosa gli piaceva fare.

Trasformazione attraverso l'amore

Per amore, abbiamo iniziato a cambiare questa macabra percezione. Giocando, liberando la creatività, sognando cose folli, saltando e ballando, abbiamo reso il processo di apprendimento sicuro e divertente. I bambini hanno iniziato ad accettarmi nella loro comunità, a darmi amore e ad aprire i loro cuori. Abbiamo iniziato a giocare con i mattoncini LEGO e così hanno imparato a costruire e programmare i robot. Hanno creato umanoidi, rane e insetti con gli strumenti tecnici che ho dato loro.

Semillas Robóticas: Una luce di speranza

Di solito i servizi per le comunità vulnerabili non vanno oltre il calcio o la salsa. Quindi Semillas Robóticas era assolutamente necessaria per cambiare questo paradigma, ed è esattamente quello che è successo, perché ho iniziato a creare opportunità per loro, ho creato uno spazio dove potessero espandere i loro orizzonti. Li ho portati nei laboratori di robotica, elettronica e stampa 3D. Abbiamo giocato con NAO, un robot umanoide che è stato testato in ambienti educativi con bambini autistici, hanno iniziato a interagire con stampanti 3D, auto autonome, droni e molto altro.

Volevo abbattere le barriere e ho offerto loro uno spazio in un'aula di un'università privata per vedere fino a che punto potevano spingersi, anche se non avevano i mezzi per pagarlo.

Si è trattato di tentativi ed errori, adattando i programmi al comportamento dei bambini finché non abbiamo trovato il metodo migliore per ottenere i migliori risultati nello sviluppo personale e nelle competenze sociali e STEM.

Un viaggio di mille miglia inizia con un primo passo

Ho iniziato con un gruppo di 12 persone, ma la voce si è diffusa nella zona orientale di Cali e ne sono arrivate sempre di più, finché alla fine ho raggiunto un gruppo di 30 bambini e adolescenti dai 4 ai 20 anni nello stesso mese.

All'età di 13 anni ho iniziato a raccogliere informazioni dalle comunità per formulare il problema e le ipotesi. A 17 anni ho messo alla prova tutte le mie conoscenze, mi sono formata come assistente sociale e ho acquisito strumenti per migliorare il mio metodo.

Fino a quel momento, Semillas Robóticas era un progetto scientifico-sociale con diversi anni di esperienza di cui nessuno voleva far parte perché dicevano che era un progetto molto complesso e con molti rischi. Così ogni giorno andavo da solo con i robot nelle comunità vulnerabili, rischiando aggressioni, affinché i bambini non perdessero questa opportunità unica di ampliare le loro prospettive in termini di possibilità, non solo nel campo della robotica, perché faceva capire loro che avevano un grande potenziale e potevano realizzare tutto ciò che volevano. Hanno avuto un chiaro esempio: Anch'io provengo da una comunità svantaggiata, eppure ho realizzato tutti i miei sogni, anche se non avevo i mezzi economici per sfruttare queste opportunità.

Connessione e amore

A very strong bond developed with the children. When the interventions were over, they didn't want to let me go, they took me in their arms and asked me not to leave them.

The children became an essential part of my life. They shared every success, every project and every piece of news with me. They were part of my application and election as an analog astronaut. They were the first to touch my fireproof suit, they wrote letters that I could take with me on my journey, and they participated in some of the activities surrounding this wonderful research.

When I came of age (18 years old), Leonardo Camargo wanted to support the transformation of this social project into a foundation registered with the Chamber of Commerce. He encouraged me because he saw Semillas Robóticas as an act of courage and love.

I was no longer alone in everything, I already had a lawyer, an audiovisual manager, several presenters, an experience designer and my little brother, who provided ideas for new kits. Tecnoacademia also came on board and we worked together.

The challenge of the foundation

Everything was ready before the first half of the year. I learned the processes of setting up the foundation, prepared everything, set everything up and started working around the clock without my presence. I could go to my training as an analog astronaut knowing that the kids would continue to receive this knowledge, I could oversee the process and I got permission from AATC - ESA so that in the middle of the training the whole crew could be present and answer the kids' questions, see us in the suits and in the analog environment. They were all very curious and my team helped me to manage everything in the best possible way, for which I was very grateful.

Recognition and expansion

The media began to recognize the work done, other institutions wanted to join and contribute, so little by little my dream grew, even the RCN named me the godmother of Cali's dreams and the newspaper EL País chose me as one of Cali's leading personalities.

After my training, I joined Duvan Sequeira to renew and strengthen the versions of humanity, we had a bigger goal. We joined forces, our entrepreneurship and our foundation to have a greater reach. We were not only in Valle del Cauca, but also in Medellin, La Guajira and other areas.... Now this great cause is called XORI, and I must admit that it has been a great challenge, because it has made us work a lot on ourselves to give the best version of ourselves and thus deliver the best to the world with the most dreamlike possibilities.

A legacy of love and hope

Every day I wake up with the hope that the work we do at XORI will inspire others to believe in their dreams, to fight for a better world and to never underestimate the power of love and compassion. Sometimes I stop and think about how it all began, about the 7-year-old girl who dreamed of changing the world and how that dream came true in ways I could never have imagined.

Today, I look back and see a journey filled with challenges, sacrifices and most importantly, a lot of love. I look at the children we have helped and see in their eyes the reflection of my own hopes and dreams. They are the reason why I keep going, the reason why I never give up.

A bright future

The future of XORI is bright and full of possibilities. Every day we are working to expand our reach, reach more communities and inspire more people to join our cause. I know the road ahead will not be easy, but I am ready to tackle every challenge with the same determination and passion that has gotten me this far.
